Time is both fleeting and eternal.
In my view, a day can be long but a year can be short. As you get older, the years seem to pass much more quickly yet it is the same amount of time as when you were 16! Why is that? Obviously, when you are young, you don’t really think about getting old or even think about your health. Mortality is a complete unknown in your teens.
When you get older, from your 40s (which I am now), things change quite a bit. Suddenly, you wake up one morning and you are thinking about your age, your health and even how long you have left on this earth!!
Let me talk about health as at least we can influence how healthy we are or want to be. I constantly hear that people are just ‘too busy to be healthy’. They ‘haven’t got any time to exercise’ or they are ‘far too busy to cook healthy meals’. Yet if these same people suddenly get ill, they then have to make time to be ill. They have no choice.
Why do we wait to be ill? We can make changes in our lives right now that will improve our health dramatically. These changes don’t have to be difficult either.
Too busy to exercise? I specialise in 12-minute workouts. Can you afford 12 minutes 3 times a week?
Too busy to cook healthy meals? I have meal planners and recipes that cover every meal for a full 5 weeks. All meals and snacks are simple to prepare and cook.
Too busy to be healthy? Have a think about that for a few moments and see if you can make some simple changes that will add years to your life and, more importantly, life to your years.
Time marches on and we can’t change that but we can change how we manage our time and our healthy choices. If we make our time more effective, we can definitely enjoy good health and live a longer life.
