I’m sure you have a wardrobe full of clothes – dresses, skirts, trousers etc. Some will fit you, some will feel tight. What happens to the tight-fitting clothes? They stay in your wardrobe!
What a shame as you really like those clothes. In fact, some of those tight-fitting clothes are your favourite items.
Ah but you can’t wear them because you just can’t squeeze into them.
It’s fine though as they’ll stay in your wardrobe waiting for the day when you CAN fit into them!
When will that day be? Will it be soon? Will it be next year? The year after?
Be honest with yourself. Maybe you should give them away to charity and buy some new clothes?
Ah but then, you’ll be buying clothes a size up from the size you REALLY want.
So, what to do about it?
I suggest the very first thing you could do (not should do as I’m not telling you what to do!) is to grab a blank piece of paper and a pen. Then write down a goal or maybe a couple of goals.
What should the goal be? Well, the goal could be: “By the end of September 2014, I WILL fit into my favourite blue dress. I will do this by exercising three times a week, changing my diet by eating more healthy, one-ingredient foods and by drinking two litres of water every day.”
You get the idea.
You need to make your goal positive and you need to set a timescale. If you speak in the negative, e.g. “I will lose weight”, that doesn’t work so well as your brain works better on positive affirmations. If you don’t set a timescale, you’ll just drift along hoping that something will happen. Inevitably, it won’t happen.
Then you need to take action. That’s the really difficult bit.
How are you going to exercise three times a week? DVD? Going to the gym? How are you going to improve your diet?
You need to have an action plan.
