For the last 4 weeks or so, my partner and I have largely enjoyed a vegan diet.
Now, this is a choice made because we want to see if it makes a difference.
My partner is now 100% vegan and I’m about 70-80% – I still eat the occasional chicken breast, eat some fish and have a few eggs.
I may go all the way for a while just to see if I can notice any improvements to my health. You may think I’m healthy because of my job but I always think you can keep improving.
So, what is being vegan all about? It’s probably obvious to you but just to clarify. You omit dairy and all animal products from your diet. So, gone are milk, cheese, eggs, yogurt, cream, meat, fish, poultry and ice cream to name those I can remember!
Also, be careful with any packaged foods because they can contain milk derivatives – check the ingredients.
Now I’m not suggesting you change to a vegan diet but it may be something you’ve considered but then wondered what you would eat!
Well, I’d suggest concentrating on lots of vegetables, fruit, milk replacements (coconut milk, almond milk, rice milk etc), nuts, seeds, nut butters (almond, peanut and cashew), spices, herbs, coconut oil, beans (borlotti, cannellini, mung, etc), brown rice, chickpeas, lentils, tofu, fermented soya, peas, polenta, oats, buckwheat, quinoa, rice cakes, sweet potatoes, sweeteners such as agave and organic maple syrup, 100% cocoa, (certain) natural health bars, green tea, coffee, water, fruit teas…
Quite a list there and that’s just off the top of my head.
These are the type of foods that work with your body rather than against it. We reckon that eating these foods will eventually pay off – not an overnight solution by any means.
BUT…
Let’s take it one step at a time!
If you want to work your way up to a vegan diet and be like me and try it 70-80% of the time, why not invest in my online ‘7 Day Weight Loss Kick-start’ programme?
I allow meat, fish, eggs and goats’ milk/yogurt. The reason for goats’ milk is that there is no danger of lactose intolerance plus the proteins are easier to digest than cows’ milk.
I lay out for a full menu for 7 days from breakfast, lunch and evening meal plus snacks.
I give you a supermarket tour so you know where to buy the foods.
Plus, I offer many recipes so you can try new combinations – all of which take very little time.
It is an ideal starting point if you care about what you eat – and you really should care, it’s crucial.
You can start the 7 Day programme any time – there is no official start date.
How much is it?
Well, I can’t do everything for free but I’ve discounted the programme from £30 to just £10, payable through Paypal, a secure payment option. You can pay by debit or credit card.
