Overweight or Tired? Your Body Could Be Acidic?

If you often feel tired, exhausted and are currently overweight, your blood may be at a dangerously high acidic level. Your body needs to be slightly alkaline for it to work at its optimal condition. Otherwise, you can gain weight and get sick easily.

The degree of acidity significantly affects the body’s ability to prevent and/or reverse illness and disease. So in order to avoid disease (and premature ageing), the body should remain in a slightly alkaline state (pH over 7).

Whether we are more acid or alkaline is influenced by:

  1. What we take in – our food, drink, the air we breathe etc;
  2. What we don’t take in that we should – nutrients, vitamins, minerals, clean water and air etc.

The average British diet consists of a lot of processed and fast food, which is high in sugar, saturated fats and protein. Think of fizzy drinks, burgers, nuggets, pastries, cakes, biscuits, sweets, processed chicken, and so on – the list is endless. All of these ‘foods’ have a high acidic range (some similar to the pH of battery acid!), which consequently, causes an acidic body.

In addition to those foods, other acidic products include meat, dairy, yeast, grains, coffee, black tea, fruit, chocolate, alcohol and extra sugar. Smoking also contributes to acidity. Imagine all of this going into your body every day? It will lead to weight gain, obesity but more importantly, many serious health problems.

It is important to understand that changing the body’s pH does not cure disease but it allows the body to heal itself by removing toxins and allowing the body to operate at its optimum level, leading to good health.

To achieve and maintain a healthy alkaline body, we must eat foods and use products that produce an alkaline body. That is, we need to eat the right foods. We can still eat some acidic foods in moderation (no more than 20-30%) but the bulk of our intake should be alkaline.

I have created a 5-week detox eating plan which will achieve this and give your body the best chance to perform at its healthiest. The eating plan eliminates sugars, dairy, wheat, white flour products, alcohol and caffeine from your diet, cleansing your body in the process. 5 weeks is enough time for your body to adjust to life without those food groups and start to get all of the essential vitamins and minerals from the new, nutritious foods you are feeding it.

Even if you do not do a detox for the rest of your life, it is worth doing on a regular basis. Do yourself (and your liver) a favour by eating well and creating that alkaline environment where disease will be shut out.
